A Matt Doherty own goal and James Maddison’s wonderfully-executed strike yielded City’s first victory of the 2018/19 campaign, despite going down to 10 men after Jamie Vardy was dismissed in the second half.

For Ricardo, it was a brilliant start to the Foxes’ life on home soil this campaign, but with 36 Premier League games to go, he knows there’s plenty more hard work to come.

“It was important to win that first game at home with our fans,” said Ricardo. “It was important to get the first three points of the championship.

“The atmosphere, the support, it was very good. It is important for us all the season to have this support.

“The Premier League will be long. It’s important to start getting points and we are in a good position.”

Ricardo earned plenty of plaudits for his display against Wolves, as he set up Maddison for City’s second goal of the afternoon, as well as impressing at the back when called upon.

He added: “The most important thing is the win and then to get the Man of the Match is a detail but it is good and I’ll keep working.

We are all happy and confident. Now to rest and then work again to the next game.

“I have to defend first but then when I have the opportunity to go up to help the team then I am here for that.

"Our first job is to defend and the clean sheet is very important to give confidence for the next games.
