Marc Albrighton is hoping to forge even stronger relationships with Leicester City’s summer recruits following his impressive link-up play with Ricardo Pereira last weekend.

During the 2-0 victory over Wolves, Albrighton’s defensive awareness allowed Ricardo to take up an advanced position on several occasions, including just before half-time, when the Portuguese provided the assist for James Maddison’s first Premier League strike.

It is not the first time Albrighton has had to fill in at right-back for the Foxes, and as he continues to show his adaptability, he praised City’s new signings for their positive starts to King Power Stadium life.

“I played with him against Valencia in pre-season and I felt like we complimented each other well,” said Albrighton of his partnership with Ricardo. “When he bombed on, I filled in for him and we had a good couple of moments out there.

“Again, at the weekend [against Wolves], I felt like it was starting to click a little bit at times. It’s obviously difficult when you get new players in and you need to gel so early on.

“Ricardo joined up with us late because of his involvement in the World Cup, so it takes time to get to know how everybody works, the same with James Maddison as well.

“He plays in that little pocket in the no.10 role and everyone needs to know what moves he makes. That doesn’t just come overnight, you need to play with them a couple of times and watch the videos after to see his movements.

“In time, that’ll all come together and hopefully we can have a few partnerships all over the pitch.”

City head to St. Mary's Stadium on Saturday and you can listen to live build-up of the game from 1pm BST on LCFC Radio's Pre-Match Pint, before we switch over to Matchday Live an hour later.
