Next week, for the first time in over 15 years, England will play at King Power Stadium – a venue that Leicester City defender Harry Maguire knows well.

- Harry Maguire believes King Power Stadium will produce an ‘incredible’ atmosphere when England face Switzerland

The Three Lions visit Filbert Way for a friendly against Switzerland following their UEFA Nations League clash with Spain at Wembley Stadium three days prior.

Maguire, for all 38 Premier League games in 2017/18 and four fixtures so far this term, has emerged from the King Power Stadium tunnel donning City colours in preparation to take on England’s elite.

On Tuesday, however, he could be lining up against many of those opponents for England when Vladimir Petković’s side come to town.

“First and foremost, I think it’ll be a little bit strange running out in a different jersey but I think it’s going to be an incredible atmosphere,” Maguire said. “Ever since I’ve come to this club, at King Power Stadium, it’s always been bouncing.

Harry Maguire has been capped 12 times for England and has scored once, against Sweden at the 2018 FIFA World Cup.

“The atmosphere has been lively and it really does get you up for the game so I’m looking forward to all of the rest of the team coming here to play in front of a home crowd at King Power Stadium.

“I’m sure there will be lots of Leicester fans in the crowd cheering us on. I’m looking forward to seeing what the atmosphere is like.”

Maguire believes an England international fixture coming to Leicester will allow City fans to watch the nation’s most talented players grace the King Power Stadium turf.

“We played one game a few months ago before the World Cup at Elland Road and the atmosphere was really good,” Maguire continued.

Ever since I’ve been involved with England, the friendlies that we’ve played have been against top quality opposition every time.

“It gives an opportunity for different parts of the country to support us and it’s nice to play in different stadiums and get used to different atmospheres.

“Wembley is always lovely to play in front of and the atmosphere is always great, but it’s a different scenario and it builds you for different tournaments.

“Ever since I’ve been involved with England, the friendlies that we’ve played have been against top quality opposition every time.”

First up for Gareth Southgate’s men is a maiden UEFA Nations League encounter with 2010 World Cup winners Spain on Saturday.

“Against Spain in the Nations League, it’s going to be a tough game, but it’s one that we’re looking forward to,” added the central defender.

“Then, at King Power Stadium, Switzerland are a top team. We’ve seen at the World Cup, they’ve got a lot of good players.

“It’s going to be an exciting game and one that we’re all looking forward to playing in.”
