The Foxes have successfully overcome Wolverhampton Wanderers, Southampton and Huddersfield Town, while a shootout victory over Wolves in the Carabao Cup last time out sees them head to Newcastle on a high.

While the Magpies are yet to record a triumph in the Premier League this campaign, they have faced Chelsea, Tottenham Hotspur, Arsenal and champions Manchester City in their opening six fixtures.

“I think we have to continue to improve and to get maximum points,” Mendy told LCFC TV ahead of the clash.

“I know a little bit about Newcastle because I look at some [of their] games and this is a strong team, very compact, with a good idea, good coach and good mentality.

“We know this weekend it’s going to be a tough game against a strong team. We have to find a solution to win the game.”

Mendy knows City must start on the front foot against Rafael Benítez’s men after conceding in the opening five minutes against Huddersfield last weekend.

He continued: “This season, we start the beginning of the game often conceding goals after maybe 10 minutes, which is not normal.

“We have to be more concentrated if we want to win some games. We have to be more concentrated and stronger.

We have a lot of good midfielders with lots of experience, like Adrien Silva and Vicente Iborra, and for me, it’s good because every time I have training, I have to make my best.

“It’s not normal to concede a goal and we’re trying to improve this aspect of our game.”

Mendy has formed a successful partnership with Nigeria international Wilfred Ndidi in the heart of midfield this campaign, and is hoping it will continue to flourish in the coming weeks.

“I like playing with Wilf,” added the Frenchman. “The coach has given me the opportunity to play and I try to give my best.
