Despite coming out of the blocks in industrious fashion, deploying an effective high-press, Spurs won the match courtesy of Jack Roles' 86th minute strike.

Speaking to LCFC TV, Pascanu, a Romania Under-21s international defender, discussed City's frustration, but also expressed optimism for the future.

"I think in the first half, we could have gone two or 3-0 up and we just didn’t put the game to bed, we just didn’t score in the end," he said.

"We’re very frustrated with the result in the end. I think you’re always taking a risk when you’re playing with such an aggressive style of play and pressing all over the pitch.

"There’s always going to be gaps appearing towards the end of the match and I think that showed today, we took the risk and today it didn’t come off but another day it might’ve done."

As I said, we’re very disappointed with our connections from the set pieces and the end result really.

Leicester's youngsters also struggled to make their mark from set-plays, something they are usually so proficient at doing.

"We’re usually so good from set pieces and today we just didn’t manage to get many first and second contacts to the ball as usual," Pascanu added.
