City's James Maddison, Wilfred Ndidi, Kelechi Iheanacho and Rachid Ghezzal were on hand to sign official club merchandise and catch up with the Blue Army on Thursday afternoon.

Staged within the refurbished Foxes Fanstore, the quartet took over two hours out of their own time to pose for photographs and talk football with some of the Club's youngest fans.

With many telling tales of how they'd queued up all day to ensure they were at the front of the queue, it was an opportunity for young supporters to spend some quality time with their City heroes.

"To meet the children today, chatting with them and signing things for them, it’s a feeling of joy," Iheanacho told LCFC TV.

Nigeria international Kelechi Iheanacho signs a football for a member of the Blue Army.

"We’re loving it and having a good time but, of course, the supporters are very, very important to us so I think it’s good to meet them.

"I didn’t know that so many people would come here today! We just want to meet as many of them as possible today because they play such a big part in games."

Naturally, as a recent arrival at the Club, Maddison was a star attraction for the Blue Army and the England midfielder was overjoyed to have the chance to meet some of his newest fans.

"You always have to pinch yourself at these moments," the 21-year-old said. "To see the kids come up to me, they’re so happy to see me so it’s a weird feeling for myself and any footballer will tell you that.

New signing Rachid Ghezzal meets one of the Club's supporters during the two-hour session.

"It’s great to see so many fans here as always. I saw a little lad called Max who had a Maddison shirt and he said he’d been here since 9am so that just tells you what it means for them.

"To put the smiles on the kids’ faces... I go home happy. When you join a new club, you always want to settle in and feel at home. The relationship you have with the fans, you can build on that.

"If you have a good relationship with the fans on the pitch and off the pitch, it bodes well for a good time and successful future for both parties."

You can see the faces, it’s just lovely, that’s why I stand at the back here, just having a look at it. It changes - different eras, different generations - but the Blue Army just turn out.

Alan 'The Birch' Birchenall, City's Club Ambassador and an icon for many generations of the Foxes faithful, was also in attendance, ensuring proceedings ran smoothly.

He added: "I’m normally used to being sat down there, about 40 years ago, signing stuff, but I’m just looking after the lads, making sure everyone gets through okay and it’s brilliant.

"It’s a tad different from my day, the signing sessions, in a little corner, a little plot, in a little room… it’s a sign of the times how things have improved and changed.

"The lads are great, the crowd’s here again, the same old Blue Army, so it's a good day for the kids.

"You can see the faces, it’s just lovely, that’s why I stand at the back here, just having a look at it. It changes - different eras, different generations - but the Blue Army just turn out.

"It just shows you the passion and how far we’ve come as a football club."
