Our Attacking Quality Shone Through, Says Lookman

Goalscorer Ademola Lookman was pleased to help Leicester City produce an impressive performance despite the wintery weather during Sunday’s 4-2 success over Watford.

Snow covered the King Power Stadium pitch throughout the second half of the Premier League encounter, but it did not prevent the Foxes racking up four goals on home soil to get back to winning ways in the Premier League.

The result moved Brendan Rodgers’ men into the top half of the table following matchday 13 and speaking after full-time, Lookman felt the victory was a deserved one for the attacking fluidity and movement on display throughout the afternoon.

“It’s a good performance from us and obviously in tough conditions as well,” the winger told LCFC TV in his post-match assessment of the Filbert Way triumph. “It was difficult to see, obviously with the snow, but I think the boys did well in the conditions and got four goals at home.

Ademola Lookman vs. Watford

The final act of a thrilling 4-2 victory over Watford at King Power Stadium on a snowy afternoon in the East Midlands.

“In the second half, especially, with the amount of snow that was on the pitch in certain areas, we had to move it a bit faster, and we created a lot of chances in the second half, even in the conditions, which is always a positive.

“In attack, we were free-flowing today. We’ll look to keep that attack going and keep putting teams under that pressure and with that threat. Just putting that intensity in and knowing if we win the ball higher up the pitch then we have a greater chance of scoring and creating for each other.

“We’ve got the quality up front, and we’ve got the quality to hurt teams. Just knowing that and in terms of our pressing, that’s what starts it all off.”

Just being in the right areas and getting in the box to score goals is something that I’ve looked to add to my game and to keep on doing that and being a threat.

James Maddison got his side off to the perfect start by opening the scoring on 16 minutes, before an eight-minute Jamie Vardy brace – after Josh King’s penalty – had the hosts 3-1 up at the interval.

Lookman then added a crucial fourth shortly after Hornets forward Emmanuel Dennis reduced the deficit once more, in the right place to tap home Harvey Barnes’ cross and seal the three points. It was the attacker’s third goal since arriving in September, but his first in the Premier League.

The loanee continued: “To get on the scoresheet is always a delight, but it obviously helped the team, so that’s the most important thing. Just being in the right areas and getting in the box to score goals is something that I’ve looked to add to my game and to keep on doing that and being a threat.

Lookman: We Created A Lot Of Chances

Ademola Lookman, who finished off the scoring in the 4-2 win over Watford, reflects on the game with LCFC TV.

“Vards (Jamie Vardy) is a top finisher, everybody knows it. If he gets a chance, most likely he’s going to score, so just having that quality there is always a bonus for us.”

Two victories in the space of four days have renewed confidence within the Foxes’ ranks and after seeing off both Legia Warsaw and Watford by two-goal margins, they head into Wednesday’s meeting with Southampton, a 7:30pm GMT kick-off at St Mary’s Stadium, in fine form.

“We have three points and we look forward to the next game,” the 24-year-old added. “We look to Wednesday now and look to get another three points. The boys are full of confidence. Now it’s about resting and recovering and looking to put in another big performance on Wednesday.”
