Born on 3 January, 1988, in Belfast, a love for the game quickly developed in his hometown, where his burgeoning talent was initially showcased alongside several other members of his family.

“I think my first memory is going to a summer coaching school,” the centre-back mused. “And then there was one on every Saturday in the local area which my mum started taking me to and a couple of my cousins were going along too. That’s where it all started really.
