City's Women Take On Reading

LCFC Women face a crucial Barclays Women's Super League match this weekend when they welcome Reading to King Power Stadium on Sunday afternoon (3pm BST kick-off).
More on this story...

Leicester head home for the first time since their goalless draw with Everton, when they prepare to do battle with Reading for key points which could make the difference in City's aim for WSL survival.

Ahead of Sunday's big match, take a closer look at both sides and how you can keep up to date with the fixture...

Rachel Daly and Alisha Lehmann both scored a brace against Leicester last weekend at Villa Park.

It can be disputed whether a game, with such big importance, comes at the right or wrong time for Willie Kirk's side. With two consecutive defeats, to Tottenham Hotspur and Aston Villa respectively, the momentum has slightly shifted since its positive turnaround at the start of the calendar year.

However, this could add fuel to the fire of a side who will be looking to give everything to put things right, and get back to winning ways, as three points could see the Foxes overtake Brighton & Hove Albion in the WSL standings.

Currently two points behind the south coast club, Sunday's match comes with an enormous amount of pressure, which City will be looking to soak up and use to their advantage in their bid for league safety.

This weekend's opponents currently sit 10th in the WSL, with one more win and four more points than the Foxes, therefore a home victory could see the gap's deficit reduced, while a win for the Royals may result in them overtaking Tottenham in ninth.

Each of Reading's four wins this season have come by a single goal, most recently when they were victorious against West Ham United in early March. Rachel Rowe scored the winner in the 85th minute.

Last time out, the Berkshire side came back to draw 2-2 with Brighton. At 2-0 down, Emma Harries scored twice in 15 minutes to rescue a point for the home side.

Kelly Chambers has held the position of Reading manager Reading since 2015. After her retirement from the club as a player in 2012 due to an interior cruciate ligament injury, Chambers was appointed Director of Women's and Girls Football, and has continued to run this role ever since.

In her debut managerial season, the 37-year-old won WSL 2, now known as the Barclays Women's Championship, earning passage to the top level of women's English football.

The Royals have remained in the WSL since their title-winning season, and recorded their highest ever finish in the 2017/18 campaign, when they secured a fourth-place finish, with a total of 32 points.

The Foxes have faced Reading twice already this season, losing on both occasions. The first back in October when two late goals from Rowe handed Leicester an agonising defeat before the Royals were victorious again in January, in the Vitality Women's FA Cup.

Leicester took the lead in extra-time at Pirelli Stadium through Hannah Cain, after Sam Tierney cancelled out Sanne Troelsgaard's fifth minute opener. However a late strike from Emma Mukandi sent the game to shootout, where City were eliminated after Grace Moloney saved three Foxes' penalties.
