Maresca: We Didn’t Take Our Chances

The Foxes were beaten 1-0 at Ashton Gate on Good Friday, a fourth defeat in six games for Maresca’s men in the Sky Bet Championship courtesy of Anis Mehmeti’s strike. That goal arrived after several big opportunities came and went for the visitors, who left the South West frustrated.
One positive was the return of several players following injury concerns, with starts for the likes of Jamie Vardy and Wilfred Ndidi, while Ricardo Pereira came on as a second-half substitute and could do so again on Easter Monday.
“It’s tough,” the Manager admitted. “Especially in this moment when you lose a game. We lost 1-0. Unfortunately, we didn’t take the chances that we created today and football at the end is a matter of taking chances.
“The frustration is when you create – I always say the same – you have to be worried and concerned when you don’t create. Today we created many chances and didn’t take them. It is what it is.
“Ricardo [Pereira] and Wilf (Wilfred Ndidi) were there; the performance was there. We created chances but hopefully soon we can take the chances.”
Now looking ahead to Norwich City in three days’ time, another 12:30pm BST kick-off at King Power Stadium, the Italian acknowledged the need to move on quickly and shift focus towards earning points against the Canaries.
The 44-year-old added: “We are in the final rush but there is no time to put our heads down, it’s now just time to recover for the next game. The good thing is that in 72 hours we have one more game.
“When we lose a game, the mood is not good, never. In three days we immediately have another game. Now, because it’s just eight games to go after today, we try to win as much as we can and then we see at the end.”
