Points Shared Between City & Villa

Two goals for either side saw LCFC Women play out a 2-2 draw with Aston Villa at Poundland Bescot Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

Yuka Momiki scored and assisted captain Sam Tierney, while Villa found the net through Adriana Leon and Rachel Daly, to ensure the spoils were shared in the Barclays Women's Super League.

City made three changes to the team beaten by Brighton & Hove Albion last weekend, with Lena Petermann, Saori Takarada and CJ Bott all coming in for Asmita Ale, Emilia Pelgander and Aileen Whelan who dropped to the bench.

After a steady opening 10 minutes, Villa saw a couple of chances fall their way, most notably when Lionesses' forward Rachel Daly tried her luck from the edge of the box, forcing Lize Kop to make a decent save.

Yuka Momiki

Yuka Momiki scored Leicester's first goal at Poundland Bescot Stadium.

Twenty-five minutes into the game, however, the hosts found a way through when a low cross from the right-wing was turned in by Canadian winger Leon.

Just two minutes later though, Leicester were back in it. Momiki netted her second goal for the Club since joining in the winter transfer window. Winning possession high up the pitch, Petermann played the ball into the Japanese forward who sent the 'keeper the wrong way, picking out the bottom-right corner.

As the sun reappeared for the second half, City took the lead for the first time in the game. A fantastic delivery from Momiki on a wide free-kick found the head of Tierney, who used the momentum of the ball to direct it towards goal, hitting the post on its way in.

Battling the Villans in the Barclays Women's Super League.

Heading towards 70 minutes, Leicester had the chance to strengthen their lead through Momiki, who was firmly at the heart of the action. Taking a touch on the edge of the box she sent a low effort towards goal, but despite a slight deflection, Anna Leat was able to get her body behind it.

With little over 10 minutes to go, the hosts found a way back into the game through Daly, who scored from close range, after calls for the English forward being in an offside position from the City defence.

There were chances for either side to win it at the death in Walsall, Villa looking the more dangerous, but after going over a month without getting a point in the WSL, City collected one on their travels to take them back up to eighth in the standings.

The Foxes now head into the international break, with an Adobe Women's FA Cup Semi-Final against Tottenham Hotspur set firmly in their sights on Sunday 14 April (12pm BST kick-off).
