City’s valiant effort in last weekend’s Adobe Women’s FA Cup Semi-Final ultimately ended in defeat but the Foxes can be proud of their performance at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Reflecting on a heart-breaking exit from the competition, Cayman shared her emotions on the matter with the media during Friday’s press conference at Belvoir Drive, before looking towards the Arsenal test.

“We were all very gutted after the game,” Cayman admitted. “But we had a day off before coming back in again and you could see that everyone was still a little bit down but then we started focusing on Arsenal and that’s now the next game.

“We just know that we have to shift our focus to that. It was unfortunate to lose like we did, but that’s football and we have to keep going.”

At 35 years of age, the Belgian international has seen it all in the women’s game, most notably winning the UEFA Women’s Champions League on two occasions with Olympique Lyonnais.

The versatile outfield player spoke about her role in the team this year and how some of the more experienced heads have worked hard to pick up the younger members of the squad, labelling the Spurs’ defeat as a tough lesson.

“We had a very good run in the FA Cup this year, and we’ve learned a lot,” Cayman continued. “The game where we lost to Tottenham is a good experience to learn from.

“Of course, it sucks in the moment but it’s the experience you have to live through to then win next time. We have a mixed squad of players that have gone through this type of thing and those who haven’t.

It’s another big game – there’s only four left so our mindset is just to go out there and get points.

“It’s just a matter of switching back to the next game and dealing with these difficult experiences is how you learn the most.”

The focus now moves to the Barclays Women’s Super League where Leicester, who have already recorded their highest points tally in the top flight, look to end the season on a high.

The next opponent of the all-important run-in sees them travel to the capital to take on Arsenal, currently third and hoping to turn the tide themselves having won the Continental Tyres League Cup Final against Chelsea last month.

“I’m very excited heading into this weekend,” Cayman stated. “I think Arsenal are doing a great job this season by getting a lot of people to the games and now it’s our turn.

“I’m just very happy and grateful that we get to play at Emirates Stadium against someone like Arsenal and we’ll try to turn it into a good game.

The 35-year-old has been a stalwart in the Leicester set-up this season.

“We know that we’ll have to communicate well because it will be very loud, but we had to deal with this last weekend as well and we need to learn from that, build on it and work hard to get a good result.

“It’s a similar preparation (to Tottenham). Of course, the teams play differently so we look at that but it’s another big game – there’s only four left so our mindset is just to go out there and get points.”

Analysing the season so far, it has been an impressive campaign for Cayman, who has found the net on seven occasions in her first year with the Club.

“We’ve learned a lot this season and we’ve grown a lot as a team, putting in some good performances,” City's No.11 added. “We’ve messed up a lot ourselves, but we’ve learnt from that.

“If we can keep this group together next season then that’ll be great because like I said, you learn together through these experiences, and it will just make us better.”
