Iheanacho joined fellow Nigeria internationals Wilfred Ndidi and Ahmed Musa in City’s ranks, arriving at King Power Stadium with an outstanding record in domestic and international football.

During his debut campaign for the Foxes, the striker scored eight goals, including back-to-back braces in the Emirates FA Cup and a stunning long-range strike against Tottenham Hotspur on the final day. Iheanacho then scored twice for the Foxes in 2018/19, including a fantastic counter-attacking goal against Huddersfield Town in the Premier League.

The following season, Iheanacho found the net during four consecutive games at the start of the season, in Carabao Cup victories over Luton and Burton Albion and league wins against Aston Villa and Everton. Another goal against West Ham United was followed by three further cup strikes versus Aston Villa (twice) and Brentford. In 2020/21, meanwhile, he's continued to be an effective source of goals, netting his first hat-trick for the Club in a 5-0 win over Sheffield United in March 2021.

The campaign ended with 19 goals in all competitions for the Nigerian, who helped the Foxes finally lift the Emirates FA Cup for the first time, in a season which ended with Iheanacho winning the Club's Goal of the Season prize for a spectacular effort against Crystal Palace.

He also started 2021/22 in style, too, with a last-gasp penalty against former club Manchester City to secure a 1-0 win at Wembley and seal the Club's second FA Community Shield triumph on 7 August, 2021. He ended the season on nine goals for club and country. In early 2023, he made another impact upon returning to the XI, scoring in three successive games, helping City to wins over Walsall (FA Cup), Aston Villa and Tottenham Hotspur.

He represented Nigeria at Under-13s, Under-17s, Under-20s and senior level, while he progressed rapidly through the ranks at Manchester City. The Manchester side secured his signature ahead of a host of Europe’s elite clubs after Kelechi’s displays in the FIFA U17 World Cup earned him the FIFA Golden Ball award and saw his country crowned world champions – scoring six times and grabbing seven assists in the process.

He soon began scoring goals for Manchester City’s academy - both in the 2015 FA Youth Cup Final and the only goal in the 2015 Premier League International Cup Final as his side lifted the trophy.

Another series of eye-catching displays in his team’s 2015/16 pre-season saw the young striker called on for first team duties for the first time in August 2015 – making his professional debut as an 18-year-old in a 2-0 home win over Watford.

His first goal came against Crystal Palace a few weeks later and he underlined his promise with a stunning FA Cup hat-trick against Aston Villa in January 2016. Despite only making 11 starts in his first season, he still managed 14 goals in all competitions. Iheanacho continued to build on his impressive reputation in front of goal as he scored his 10th Premier League goal before the age of 20 and found the back of the net in the UEFA Champions League.

At senior international level, Iheanacho made his Nigeria debut in 2015 and despite his young age, firmly established himself as a key man for his country. He was included in Nigeria's 23-man squad for the 2018 FIFA World Cup, and made three appearances for his country in Russia. Iheanacho then featured at the 2021 AFCON - delayed a year by COVID-19 - scoring against Egypt, as his nation reached the last-16 stage.
