Born in Wrexham, Ward started his career at his local club, Wrexham A.F.C., but made his senior debut in a Man of the Match performance on loan at Tamworth. Liverpool moved to secure the goalkeeper’s services in January 2012, where he developed in their Under-18s and Under-23s sides before being promoted to the Reds’ first team and gaining valuable senior experience on loan at Morecambe and Aberdeen.

He was recalled to Liverpool in 2016 and soon underlined his potential with an impressive debut display in a 2-1 Premier League victory at AFC Bournemouth in April of that year, followed by a further run out in a 3-1 win over Swansea City.

Ward then joined Huddersfield Town on a season-long loan in 2016/17, where he proved to be a key figure - playing 46 times as the Terriers were promoted to the Premier League.

The goalkeeper made crucial saves during the penalty shootout victory over Sheffield Wednesday in the play-off semi-final and repeated his heroics in the spot-kick win over Reading in the final at Wembley.

The talented stopper made a permanent move to City from Liverpool in the summer of 2018 and immediately shone at Leicester, keeping a clean sheet on debut in a 4-0 Carabao Cup Second Round win over Fleetwood Town.

Ward then saved three penalties in the third round shootout success at Wolverhampton Wanderers, following another shutout in normal time.

And similarly, in 2019/20, Ward proved to be a valuable presence for the Foxes in cup competitions, keeping clean sheets against both Wigan Athletic and Brentford in early round successes in the Emirates FA Cup.

It was a competitive that Leicester would eventually win for the first time in the Club's history in 2020/21 as Ward made two appearances - against Brentford and Brighton & Hove Albion - en route to the Foxes securing a 1-0 final success over Chelsea at Wembley Stadium.

He also featured for City in the UEFA Europa League in 2020/21 - in clashes with Zorya Luhansk and AEK Athens.

Ward represented Wales at Under-17s, Under-19s and Under-21s level before receiving his first senior call-up in 2013. It would be three years before his international debut, which came as a substitute in a friendly against Northern Ireland in the lead up to UEFA EURO 2016.

He was part of the 23-man squad for the tournament, making his full Wales debut in their opening group game - a 2-1 victory over Slovakia. Wales went on to reach the semi-finals before eventually losing out to Belgium in the last four. He also played every single game for Wales at UEFA EURO 2020 - delayed a year by the COVID-19 pandemic - once again earning plaudits for his performances as his nation reached the last-16 stage.

The 2021/22 season included more action in cup competitions for Leicester - facing Millwall and Brighton & Hove Albion in the Carabao Cup - before also starring in the Emirates FA Cup against Watford and Nottingham Forest.

In May 2022, meanwhile, Ward made his Premier League debut for the Club in a 5-1 win at Watford. Now the Club's No.1 goalkeeper, Ward goes into the 2022/23 season hoping to make his mark for the Foxes. His home league debut, on the other hand, arrived in August, in a 2-2 draw with Brentford at King Power Stadium on the opening day of the 2022/23 season.

The 2022/23 season was a tough one for the whole Club. Ward made 28 appearances across the campaign, but it ended in relegation to the Sky Bet Championship.
