Pearson's Huddersfield Analysis

City boss Nigel Pearson felt his side were fully deserving of their three points on Saturday afternoon following an action packed 2-1 victory over Huddersfield Town in the Sky Bet Championship.

It was the Foxes’ sixth consecutive King Power Stadium win in all competitions, and keeps them in touch with the early season pace-setters, Burnley and Queens Park Rangers.

Jamie Vardy opened the scoring with a sensational strike, before an Anthony Gerrard own goal had Pearson’s men two goals to the good at half time.

Terriers substitute Sean Scannell then pulled one back in a second half that also saw a red card for former City striker James Vaughan, as the home side saw out the match and sent the 22,000 strong crowd home happy.

And Pearson was in no doubt that his side were worthy winners, telling Foxes Player afterwards: “It was a deserved win. I think we played some really good football and created a lot of chances.

“On reflection it could have been a game in which both sides scored more goals, but the most important thing as always is that we end up on top. We’ve done that again today because we’ve had more quality and I was really pleased with how the players went about it.

“It could have been a much tougher game than we made it because they are a tough side, with a good work ethic. They’re adaptable too, but because of our approach and the players’ application, we did very well.

“As always it’s about whether we can impose our own style of play and shape on our opponents and because we controlled possession, they had to change their shape pretty early in the game to deal with us.

“That’s always a good sign. But as they proved throughout the game, they were always dangerous from set plays and always capable of producing something.

“As always though, the most important thing is coming away with the three points.”
