Foxes Sign Taylor-Fletcher

Leicester City are delighted to confirm the signing of experienced forward Gary Taylor-Fletcher on a one-year contract, subject to Football League and FA clearance.

A versatile attacking player, 32-year-old Gary joins the Foxes as a free agent, having ended a six-year spell with Blackpool at the end of last season. He will wear the No.22 shirt.

Should his registration be confirmed by the Football League in time, Taylor-Fletcher could be available to face his former club at Bloomfield Road in the Sky Bet Championship on Saturday.

A Championship promotion-winner with the Seasiders in 2010, Taylor-Fletcher brings a wealth of experience to Nigel Pearson’s squad. Having started his career in non-league football, he has played and scored in each of the English game’s top four divisions, including six goals in 32 appearances during Blackpool’s Premier League campaign of 2010/11.

Gary began his career with Northwich Victoria, then of the Conference, in 1999, but after a successful loan spell in the Football League with Hull City he joined Third Division Leyton Orient in 2001.

Further loan spells as Grays Athletic and Dagenham & Redbridge followed, before he settled at Lincoln City under the late Keith Alexander – Taylor-Fletcher’s manager at Northwich. It was at Sincil Bank that Gary truly started to show his potential, winning the club’s Player of the Year award in 2004 and helping the Imps to the League 2 Play-Off Final the following season.

His performances with Lincoln earned him a move to Huddersfield Town, then of League 1, in 2005. Operating as both a striker and a wide midfield player, Taylor-Fletcher made 91 appearances during two years with the Terriers, scoring 26 times, including the Football League’s 500,000th goal against Rotherham United in August 2006.

After winning promotion to the Championship in 2007, Blackpool manager Simon Grayson recruited Taylor-Fletcher for an undisclosed fee and he made his Seasiders debut on the opening day of the season in a 1-0 win at Leicester City. He would go on to make a further 236 appearances for the Tangerines, scoring 39 times, including a crucial equaliser in the 2010 Championship Play-Off Final victory over Cardiff City at Wembley.
