Demarai Gray was upbeat after Leicester City’s narrow 2-1 defeat by Watford on Saturday, insisting they will regroup in time for the UEFA Champions League clash against Club Brugge on Tuesday.

City welcome the Belgian champions to King Power Stadium knowing a point will be enough to secure their place in the knock-out stages and Gray says the reverse at Vicarage Road will only act as extra motivation.

Riyad Mahrez’s 15th minute penalty was not enough to overturn the deficit on Saturday afternoon after Etienne Capoue and Roberto Pereyra fired the Hornets ahead inside the first 12 minutes.

Foxes winger Gray told LCFC TV: “We didn’t have the best of starts but, after 20 minutes, we got a hold of the game and got back into it with the penalty.

“In the second half we pushed and pushed but were just unlucky not to get an equaliser. I think we deserved to get something out of the game.

“On another day, we would have got a bit of luck and got a goal.

“It’s tough, we knew coming here would be difficult. Our response to going behind was good and everyone was disappointed in the changing room.”

The Foxes face Club Brugge this week ahead of the visit of Middlesbrough in the Premier League on Saturday but Gray, who made a 22-minute cameo this weekend, says they are taking it one match at a time.

“We’ve got to come together now and move onto Tuesday’s game [against Club Brugge],” he added.

“We’ll come back together and get it out the system. Everyone is still positive ahead of the match on Tuesday.

“The next two games are important for us and hopefully we get what we need.”
