Trevor Peake is expecting another tough test in the FA Youth Cup when Carlisle United visit King Power Stadium on Wednesday evening (7pm kick-off).

Leicester City Under-18s defeated Leyton Orient 3-1 last time around in December and know victory over the Cumbrians will set up a fifth round tie away to Middlesbrough in February.

Peake says he will be able to call upon several of the players to have broken into Steve Beaglehole’s Development Squad and he hopes they will be able to compliment some of the younger players at his disposal.

Speaking to LCFC TV, Peake said: “They’ll come here and maybe be a little more defensive than Leyton Orient, sitting in and trying to counter-attack.

“That’s something we’ve spoken about before. They’re in the North West Alliance and we ourselves are not looking too good in the league table but you would expect us to have the quality to put our stamp on the game.”

Peake, the City Academy manager, says the experience of playing in front of the Blue Army at King Power Stadium can only be a positive for those among his squad who rarely get the opportunity to do so.

He added: “It’s a great stage for them to play on the King Power Stadium pitch, where the first-team play and where their dreams are. It’ll be a great experience for them.

“We will have some of the lads who have played regularly for the Under-23s and it’ll be great to have their experience. If we can get through this round, they’ll be a difficult round after that.

“We’re going to have another meeting before the game to try and emphasise the fact that we’ve got the quality for the match.

“If we’re not too hasty early on, in the end we might be able to wear them down a little bit and show our quality.”
