Leicester City Under-18s manager Trevor Peake struggled to find fault with his players after the 3-0 defeat by a strong Arsenal side at Belvoir Drive on Saturday 14 January, 2017.

Ahead of the FA Youth Cup clash with Carlisle United at King Power Stadium on Wednesday 18 January, the young Foxes succumbed to a Gunners outfit who are challenging at the top of the Premier League U18 table.

Speaking to LCFC TV following that result, Peake said: “Arsenal are a quality team. They always give you a really good test, as do a lot of the teams in our league.

“We played as well as we could play, we just didn’t have the quality in certain areas. We conceded a couple of silly goals again.”

Peake says there is still reason to be optimistic, however, and called upon his players to work hard in training on their ball retention skills ahead of the final run-in of league fixtures over the coming months.

He added: “Hopefully, going forward, we can get a little more possession in games and out teams on the back front like we struggled to against Arsenal.”
