Five points clear with just eight Barclays Premier League games remaining, but Marc Albrighton says Leicester City are under no pressure.

The winger played a key role in Shinji Okazaki’s winning goal against Newcastle United on Monday night – a victory that re-established City’s five-point lead over Tottenham Hotspur.

That added to the media frenzy surrounding the Foxes’ sensational season, but for Albrighton it’s the enjoyment of playing in the team, not the pressure, that’s inspiring the group to keep up their fine form.

“We’re still enjoying it. I don’t feel like we’ve got any pressure,” Albrighton told Foxes Player HD. “We were tipped for relegation by a lot of people – pundits and media – so no matter what happens from now on in, we won’t play with pressure.

“We’re just enjoying every minute of it and whatever happens, happens. “It’s brilliant [at the moment]. Everyone at the Football Club – fans, staff, players, managers, coaching staff – everyone is involved in it.

“The gaffer is animated on the side and you can tell the fans are animated. They can’t believe what’s happening this season. I think it’s just important that in this moment we enjoy every minute of it because it’s such a special achievement what we’re doing.

“We haven’t got to forget that this will probably never happen again in the Premier League to any side that’s been tipped for relegation, so we’ve got to enjoy the moment but at the same time make the most of it.”

Okazaki’s goal gave the Foxes at 1-0 win over the Magpies and as usual, the noise after the goal was scored reached deafening levels.

For Albrighton, there’s nothing quite like it.

He added: “It’s such a good feeling. When you go goal up it’s always a good feeling that you’ve made that breakthrough. It’s a totally different game because the opposition have got to come out at you.

“I think the atmosphere in the last two or three minutes of the game where everyone got up off their seats and were singing and shouting – that’s the real hard work where you need to dig in.

“It was only 1-0 and anything could have happened. The fans were there and that was crucial.”
