Okazaki Aiming To Shine In Premier League

After agreeing a four-year deal to join Leicester City, Japanese striker Shinji Okazaki spoke of his excitement for a new challenge in the Barclays Premier League.
The 29-year-old will become the latest member of the squad, subject to work permit, international and Fifa clearance, and can’t wait to show Leicester City supporters just what he’s all about.

Okazaki joins from Bundesliga side 1. FSV Mainz 05 when he has spent the last two seasons scoring goals at a healthy rate, but the challenge of testing himself in English football’s top-flight with the Foxes was too good to turn down.

Speaking to LCFC.com he said: “I am very happy to be here. To play in the Premier League is my dream and I will make every effort to help the team here at Leicester City.

“I will do my best to show how I can play and try to make a lot of goals for the supporters.

“I watched every match [last season] in the Premier League not all of them are easy. There were hard games. In the last few games the crowd were great and the players responded. It was an amazing result at the end of the season.”

While Okazaki admits there are differences between the Premier League and its German counterpart, they aren’t ones that faze him but ones that make him even more hungry to do well.

He added: “The schedule here is harder than in the Bundesliga because the games are closer together. It’s difficult to compare one league to another.

“I hear that the Premier League is a very physical division and better for individual talent, so I’m excited to know what I can do in this league.

“It’s a huge challenge to come here to the Premier League but I hope I can show everyone what I can do.”
