Pearson: A Fantastic Way To End The Season
Charlie Austin netted to the already relegated visitors to momentarily make it 4-1 in the second half, but the day belonged to City, who had defied the odds to win eight out of their final 10 fixtures and secure safety with a game to spare.
That meant it was a day of celebration for the season finale against Queens Park Rangers, and as it turned out, a game of football to remember too.
“I’d like to thank the fans for allowing the players to do that full lap because it’s important for us to be able to show our appreciation to the fans,” Pearson told Foxes Player. “I fully appreciate that supporters like to do things, but it was very much appreciated. Our owners made it very clear that they’d like to join in too, so all in all it’s been a fitting end to an interesting season.”
And as much as the manager enjoyed being able to thank the fans, he also enjoyed seeing his side put what was without question one of their finest performances of the campaign.
He added: “It was a good end to the season because it was potentially going to be difficult to replicate other performances with safety assured against a side that are already relegated.
“You never quite know how you’re going to impose yourself on the game and you could also forgive some of the players for not really having that momentum that they’ve had in other games.
“But I thought we dealt with the occasion very ell and to finish our last game with a 5-1 victory at home is fantastic.”
