Ranieri: Gray Perfect For LCFC

- The winger joined the Foxes on Monday from Birmingham City 

- Ranieri says he is thrilled to have Gray in his ranks 

- Gray could make his debut for the Club in Sunday’s Emirates FA Cup Third Round fixture at Tottenham Hotspur 

Leicester City manager Claudio Ranieri has welcomed the signing of Demarai Gray and believes the winger’s attributes will be the perfect addition to his squad. 

Gray signed from Birmingham City on Monday and brings with him huge potential. He has made over 70 Football League appearances at the age of just 19 and is a regular at England youth level. 

The wideman first came to Ranieri’s attention after scoring a spectacular goal for Birmingham in pre season against the Foxes and the City boss is thrilled to now have that sort of calibre in his ranks. 

And with changes to the starting XI for Sunday’s Emirates FA Cup Third Round fixture at White Hart Lane likely, Gray could make his first appearance in Leicester blue. 

Ranieri said of Leicester’s latest recruit: “I didn’t know him before the friendly match against Birmingham. He scored but he played well against us. He’s young with good quality. He can grow up with us. 

“He can play as a winger. He’s fast with good skills. He dribbles very well and one-on-one he’s good. He can cross and shoot. He’s perfect for us. 

“He’s able [to play] and of course the league is our priority but we also think about the FA Cup. I want to build all the team and that means all the group. I will play the players who didn’t play so far.” 

The Foxes have undoubtedly been the surprise package of the Barclays Premier League this season and while their target of 40 points has now been reached, Ranieri still believes his side have room for improvement. 

He added: “I want to improve in every situation, every moment. I know it’s very difficult but we’ll try. At this moment we have nothing to lose. Only to improve, only to achieve. It’s exciting. 

“I think there are other teams who are building to win the title, the Champions League. We want to try and make something change – that is our strength. 

“We have to fight to improve in every training session. It’s my first six months I am working with them and we have to improve a lot. We’ve done a lot but we have to improve.”
