  • The King Power Race Meeting on Monday 27 May is set to be a day of fun for all the family
  • Foxes favourite Matt Elliott is looking forward to returning after the successes of previous years
  • Tickets remain available to purchase online via the Leicester Racecourse website
  • These are priced at £10 for adults using the code KING24 and free for Under-18s with an accompanying adult
The annual event, which is being held at Leicester Racecourse on Bank Holiday Monday, 27 May, sees racing enthusiasts, supporters and Club legends all come together for a day of high-level racing and family fun.
A host of entertainment away from the racing will keep all the family entertained across the afternoon, with Club mascot Filbert Fox also set to make an appearance for the spectacular summer celebration. Gates open at 12:30pm, with the first race starting at 2:30pm.
Always one to look forward to on the calendar, Elliott, who attended last year’s event alongside fellow Leicester City favourites Wes Morgan, Steve Walsh and Ali Mauchlen, cannot wait to be back.
The city being as one is a feeling felt no more so than at the end of this title-winning season and fans can now bask in the sunshine – and glory of a return to the Premier League, following the Club’s crowning as Sky Bet Championship champions.
“It’s the perfect setting,” he commented. “It’s sizeable enough but at the same time, has a personable touch to it as well. You get access in and around the paddock, it’s always a nice crowd and usually nice weather too! It’s become a regular event and everyone enjoys it to the utmost.”
The former Leicester captain also referenced the importance of days like this one to showcase the spirit embedded within the LCFC community, led by King Power, which stretches far and wide in the city and beyond, having a meaningful impact on the lives of people right across the Leicestershire County.
The event has previously promoted some of Leicestershire's leading charities, such as LOROS, Rainbows and Leicester Children's Hospital, who all carry out incredible work, aligning with the Club’s commitment to giving back to local people through the VS Foundation
“That’s at the forefront of King Power’s mind,” Elliott explained. “Obviously there’s the football, but they are big on the community aspect of things – how the Club can have input and an effect on the community and the city. It’s an ongoing feature of the King Power brand.
“I think people recognise that and appreciate it – no more so than on a day like King Power Race Day. They are consciously active and Khun Vichai’s charitable contributions have been continued by Khun Top, while Susan Whelan is massively influential in the business community around Leicester. It all works well to join the city and the whole area together.”
Entry for just £10 is available by using the code KING24, while all children under the age of 18 accompanied by an adult can attend for free. Click HERE to purchase your tickets, entering the code KING24 into ‘PACKAGE CODE’ at the top of the webpage and follow the instructions to purchase at the discounted price.
All times BST.
