- Dennis Praet reflects on Leicester City's 2-0 win over Leeds United on Thursday- The Belgian played in a role in both of City's goals on his first home start of the 2022/23 season- Praet believes the Foxes can now start to build confidence and climb the Premier League
The Foxes' second win of 2022/23, which lifts them off the bottom of the Premier League and into 19th, was secured courtesy of Robin Koch's own goal and fine strike from Harvey Barnes. Brendan Rodgers' men were largely dominant throughout on Filbert Way. "We are very happy with the three points," Belgium international Praet told LCFC TV. "They were necessary. Overall, it was a steady performance against a physical team with a lot of pressure, so I think we did well. We know Leeds are a team which, for the first 30 minutes, is very aggressive. "They have very high pressing, they’re very energetic, and that’s what we saw. I think we did well and, in the second half, we controlled the game. They didn’t really create a lot of dangerous attacks and chances. We need to continue now.
"We’re playing against Wolves [on Sunday], an opponent close to us in the standings, so we’ll try to get the three points again."
While Praet's cross forced Koch's own goal early on, it was his determination which also kept the ball alive for Barnes' second. He hooked the ball away from Diego Llorente on the right channel, giving it to Jamie Vardy, who found Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall, before Barnes' tidy finish. "It was a great goal," he added. "If you see it from the start, I think five or six players come on the ball and then, at the end, it was a very quick combination. It was a lovely goal. I think it’s very good for us that we have three times which we held the nil at home.
"That’s important and I hope we can continue this way and regain our confidence. I enjoyed it a lot. It’s been a very long time since I started a game here at home. If we can end the game with a win, then it’s a very good feeling."
