- Leicester City make the trip to East Anglia for a Boxing Day meeting with Ipswich Town- It’s a 7:45pm kick-off as the Sky Bet Championship’s top two go head-to-head- James Justin previewed the fixture after Saturday’s 3-0 victory over Rotherham United- It’s now five league wins a row for the high-flying Foxes but they won’t be getting carried away, the full-back assured
The division’s top two teams will do battle at Portman Road on Tuesday, with Leicester currently sitting six points ahead of the Tractor Boys heading into the 7:45pm kick-off.
The gap widened following Saturday’s 3-0 victory over Rotherham United for Enzo Maresca’s side, with a Patson Daka double and Cesare Casadei’s goal ensuring City would sit top of the pile at Christmas after a fifth consecutive league success.
“It just keeps us full of confidence,” the 25-year-old explained, speaking following full-time on Filbert Way at the weekend. “We’ve won a few on the spin now and we’ll look to keep that going on Boxing Day.”
While the magnitude of the fixture from the outside is not lost on the Foxes full-back, he, along with the rest of the squad, is fully focused on coming back from East Anglia with a positive result.
He continued: “We know it’s going to be a difficult game but as I said, we’re confident. To be fair, we always think the next game is the biggest and the gaffer said to us a couple of days ago that Rotherham was the biggest game of the season.
“This one is obviously a big one because we’re both up there at the top, but at the end of the day, there’s only three points available. It’s not going to make or break anyone’s season.”
Although Kieran McKenna’s side fell to an uncharacteristic 4-0 defeat at Leeds United at the weekend, Town have tools at their disposal to come out on top themselves and City will have to be wary of a reaction in front of their own fans, Justin warned, while also outlining the need to keep feet on the ground at this stage of the season.
The defender explained: “It definitely gives them a little kick and they might come out a bit more, but I’m sure they would have come out firing anyway. It’s at their place, the ground will be rocking.
“But we’re not going to change anything that we do against them. We’re just going to go in with the same gameplan and hopefully it works.”
