Back in the Sky Bet Championship after nearly a decade of success in the Premier League – some of which unthinkable a decade ago – the Foxes find themselves tasked with an immediate return this campaign.
Italian Enzo Maresca was confirmed as the new Manager last month and, earlier this week, the former Manchester City coach met up with his new players for pre-season. Training has been intense but enjoyable for the City stars involved, with more due back soon, ahead of a programme of pre-season games both at home and abroad this summer.
"It's nice to be back after time with the family in Portugal," Portugal right-back Ricardo Pereira said inside the first team reception area of Seagrave. The full interview will be available this weekend. "It's a little bit different. Some players have left and others have arrived. We've got a new coach too. We're starting to know each other and that's what pre-season is for.
"When you have a new manager, it's always different. They have new ideas and different things they want the team to do. I'm enjoying it."
The week began with testing, first in the gym and then moving inside the King Power Centre's expansive dome. Players' fitness was pushed to the limit, before lighter session on the pitches, with the footballs coming out early on this summer.
New signings Conor Coady and Harry Winks were among the players to report for duty on Monday too - and England defender James Justin was pleased to welcome them to north Leicestershire. "It's been nice to meet the new faces of management and also the couple of new players that we've got," JJ said, filming a behind-the-scenes video diary.
"Hopefully they can be good additions. It's just building that team spirit in pre-season and looking forward to a good season.
From the first session outside, from the first moment we met up, everyone knows that's what we want to do this season. It's just getting on with that."
Harry Souttar, on the other hand, had enjoyed a busy summer, travelling to China last month for an exhibition friendly for Australia against world champions Argentina. "We were in Beijing and we had a friendly there against Argentina," he explained. "It was good to get another game in with a different climate and different kind of pitches.
"But I really enjoyed it and I was just kind of keeping up the fitness as well, which is nice. I then had a couple of weeks off after that, and now coming back in, I’m ready to go."
