The National League Cup clash saw our Development Squad take on the fifth-tier outfit and match our senior opponents throughout the contest at VBS Community Stadium, despite being reduced to 10 men on 67 minutes when Mirsad Ali was shown a red card for his challenge on Charlie Bell.

After an end-to-end game with numerous opportunities for both sides to break the deadlock, Sutton claimed the extra bonus point for coming out on top in the spot-kicks, with 'keeper Chris Haigh saving penalties from both Kevon Gray and Will Daniels after Josh King had converted and Ryan Donnelly sent his over the bar.

City sit fifth in Group D after the first round of games, on one point. Our youngsters will also travel to Truro City, Woking and Boston United as part of the group stage, with the top two from each of the four eight-team groups qualifying for the quarter-finals.

Attention quickly turns to Premier League 2 for Leicester, with a season-opener against Blackburn Rovers to come this Friday - a 7pm BST kick-off at LCFC Training Ground.
