Youri Tielemans' second-half screamer from 30 yards was the difference at the national stadium, although the Foxes also benefited from some exceptional goalkeeping from Kasper Schmeichel and a dramatic late VAR call to deny Chelsea an equaliser.
That success will go down in Leicester City folklore among the Club's very finest achievements and, speaking afterwards, Rodgers said: "I’m very proud. It’s a historic day for the Football Club. Winning the FA Cup for the first time in the Club’s history is clearly a special day. I’m just so happy for the players.
"They were so courageous in the game. For the supporters, they’ve lost four finals and now, at the first time, we’ve been able to get the victory for them. Of course, for Khun Top and his family, it was a dream of theirs to win the FA Cup and we’ve been able to deliver that."
With an allocation made available to the Blue Army for the first time since March 2020, the Foxes were roared home by a raucous contingent of fans at Wembley and Rodgers praised the courage of his players to give them an afternoon they'll never forget.
"I thought it was a really good game, a classic FA Cup Final game," the Northern Irishman added. "We were playing against the Champions League finalists, so we knew it was going to be tough.
"We knew, at times, we were going to have to suffer, but I felt we were well worthy of the win. We pressed the game really well and took them to the side of the field that we wanted to and, when we had the ball, we showed courage with it.
"I just felt, at half-time, we could stay a little bit longer on it in possession, but I always felt we were a real threat in the game. It was an amazing goal from Youri.
"In the same breath, I’ve got to mention Kasper Schmeichel. That was also a really special save by a top-class goalkeeper. Once we were in front, in the last 15 to 20 minutes, we looked to close the game out and the players defended magnificently to keep a clean sheet."
Rodgers has now won seven cup finals out of seven across his spells at Celtic and Leicester, but he was just delighted to see the players fulfil their dreams and to reward the fans for their unbelievable support.
"This was my seventh final as a coach or manager," he continued. "I’d won the six previously and I was very determined to win the seventh! I knew we had to work, but I’m very proud to have done that. It’s just an amazing feeling and my happiness is for everyone.
"We started two-and-a-half years ago. The success for a club like Leicester City in the Premier League is being up there competing and fighting and making it really difficult for teams.
"There’s five or six other teams, possibly seven others, who will have a higher budget than ourselves and there’s some of the clubs – Liverpool, Manchester City, Manchester United – who are on a different level to us, but being able to compete is important for us.
"We compete on a performance level. Hopefully we’ve shown that and we want to continue to show the ambition to do that.
"It’s the most beautiful medal and it feels great to have it round my next. Congratulations to every Leicester City supporter and everyone in the city – you thoroughly deserve it!"
