For a brief moment, it seemed that everyone battling promotion was struggling to get across the line, but after two losses in four, the Foxes bounced back, kicking things off with a win over Norwich City. Gabriel Sara may have supplied the lead to the Canaries, but Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall, Stephy Mavididi and Jamie Vardy turned things around at King Power Stadium.

Filbert Way saw another home win not long after, when Birmingham City made the trip across the Midlands. Jay Stansfield cancelled out Dewsbury-Hall's opener but Mavididi's late winner electrified the stadium; City were getting closer to their ultimate goal.

Back-to-back defeats followed for Leicester, losing 1-0 to both Millwall and Plymouth Argyle away. They were disappointing results, especially in a crucial period of games, but things were about to turn, with three consecutive victories which would not only confirm promotion, but the Sky Bet Championship crown.

A clash between Leicester and West Bromwich Albion on Saturday 20 April fell in favour of the soon-to-be champions, as Wilfred Ndidi and Vardy got things started. A second half strike from Jed Wallace made it a nervy ending, but the full-time whistle confirmed three massive points.

Just when the team needed to step up, City did; beating Southampton 5-0 to record their joint-highest win of the season. It took 25 minutes to break down the visitors' defence, which was achieved by Abdul Fatawu, but after that it was clear-sailing. The young winger rounded off a hat-trick while Ndidi and Vardy also got on the scoresheet. Promotion was closer than ever.

In fact, their spot among next year's Premier League clubs was confirmed without even having to kick a ball. Queens Park Rangers' demolition of Leeds United had put them out of sight, confirming a spot among the top two.

Still buzzing from the result in the capital, Leicester headed to Preston North End where a following of over 5,000 supporters saw them claim the title. A brace from Vardy either side of a Kasey McAteer strike getting the job done. The season wasn't over yet, but the celebrations had well and truly begun.
