- Harvey Barnes scored twice for England Under-20s against Scotland on Thursday - The Leicester City midfielder helped the young Lions qualify for the Toulon Tournament Final - England will defend their title against the Ivory Coast on Saturday
Leicester City youngster Harvey Barnes continued his red-hot form for England Under-20s with a brace in the semi-finals of the Toulon Tournament on Thursday evening.
Fresh off netting a double against Cuba in a 7-1 victory last week, Barnes this time lined up against Scotland in Provence.
Having gained some valuable experience while on loan at League 1 outfit MK Dons during the 2016/17 campaign, the Academy winger showed his quality by opening the scoring with a low effort from the edge of the box.
Sunderland’s Eliot Embleton made it 2-0 early on in the second period, before midfielder Barnes, who made his first international appearance against Angola in late May, extended the young Lions’ advantage.
Barnes nearly had his hat-trick late on, but hit the side-netting. Nevertheless, his performance will do him no harm ahead of Saturday’s final in Aubagne, where Neil Dewsnip’s side will defend their title against the Ivory Coast.
Development Squad defender Elliott Moore was an unused substitute in the victory.
