Leicester City Development Squad manager Steve Beaglehole was delighted to start life at Holmes Park with an entertaining display in the on Monday night.
The Foxes twice found themselves behind in front of 613 members of the Blue Army in Whetstone but Admiral Muskwe and Raul Uche struck before Layton Ndukwu’s penalty again restored parity late on.
City welcome Southampton to their new home next Monday and Beaglehole says he hopes to create a fortress-like atmosphere at Holmes Park between now and the end of the Premier League 2 campaign.
He told LCFC TV: “I’m delighted with the second half performance and with the fact that we didn’t get beat. We’ve just said to the lads that, we know they’re young, but they’ve got to start believing in themselves more.
“I thought we showed them [Man City] far too much respect early on in the game. We gave ourselves an enormous task again.
“They showed their quality but, as our first-team showed last year, if you get tight to people, you make them look not as good as they are.
“We really did that in the second half. All three goals were terrific. They were stunning strikes by Admiral, Uche and Layton. I think there were about 600 people here and we really appreciate that.”
Beaglehole was thrilled that the Blue Army went home satisfied with what they had seen from his side and says the performance proves he has some good players at his disposal at Under-23s level.
“I’m pleased they got to see a good match,” he added. “It was a fantastic atmosphere here and I’m really, really pleased with the investment the Club have made.
“I have to say I’m a little disappointed not to have won the match because of chances created. We’ve spoken about not getting beaten here with the games we’ve got left.
“Southampton is a massive game for us and we want to show people we’ve got some good players here.
“All in all, the people who have come tonight have witnessed that we’ve got some good players here.”
