Generally speaking, the two sides have avoided each other in the English league pyramid more often than not in the 21st century, only appearing in the same division on four occasions.
As Tony Mowbray's men prepare to visit Filbert Way on Sunday for a pre-season friendly ahead of the 2020/21 campaign, LCFC.com rolls back the years to 2003... Leicester City 2 Blackburn Rovers 0Sunday 2 November, 2003Premier LeagueKing Power Stadium
Leicester City scored with their only shots on target to kick-start a five-game unbeaten run in the Premier League with a 2-0 success over Blackburn Rovers on 2 November, 2003.
Despite boasting a forward line of Andy Cole and Dwight Yorke, Graeme Souness' Rovers arrived in Leicester on the back of four consecutive league defeats.
Just after the half-hour mark, Cole missed a guilt-edged opportunity to fire the visitors into a lead, missing from 12 yards out, after being laid up well by Yorke on Filbert Way.
The Foxes - who had won just once, beating Leeds United 4-0 in September, all season - were largely on the back foot for much of the first half.
However, against the run of play, Micky Adams' men were ahead when Muzzy Izzet's curling free-kick was guided home by former Rovers striker Marcus Bent, who was on loan from Ipswich Town, on 73 minutes. The match finally got away from Blackburn with just eight minutes to play as Steve Howey applied a finish to Matt Elliott's header back across goal to make it 2-0.
A week later, Leicester secured a 3-0 triumph over Manchester City on their first-ever visit to Etihad Stadium, before being held to a 1-1 home draw by Charlton Athletic.
Another win at Harry Redknapp's Portsmouth followed for the Foxes and a last-gasp 1-1 draw with unbeaten Arsenal, but City would nonetheless suffer relegation in May.
