- Leicester City players past and present visit Graysford Hall Care Home in Stoneygate- Alan 'The Birch' Birchenall was joined by Danny Ward, Harry Souttar and Kasey McAteer- Club Historian John Hutchinson was also in attendance to reminisce on years gone by at LCFC - Gifts and a game of carpet bowls helped spread the Christmas cheer during the visit
As part of the Club's festive schedule, which includes signing sessions, Foxes Fanstore 'shop and sip' events, Christmas lunches and the annual hospital visit, the LCFC quartet were there to meet residents and spread the festive fun this December.
Club Historian John Hutchinson was also in attendance, bringing a treasure trove of Leicester City artefacts and memorabilia from yesteryear.
A game of carpet bowls was on the agenda during the visit to Stoneygate, as Danny Ward, Harry Souttar and Kasey McAteer shared a memorable afternoon with the people staying at Graysford Hall Care Home.
The trio also posed for photos with residents and their family members and dished out some gifts at the end, funded by the Men’s First Team squad.
Speaking afterwards, The Birch said: "It's a real privilege for myself and the players to attend these events, especially at this special time of year.
"There are a lot of people in the background at the Club who work incredibly hard in organising these kind of visits and days – it’s not an easy job. I’d like to say a big thank you to everyone involved, there are too many people to mention individually but they deserve huge credit.
"I had the biggest shock I’ve had for a while seeing my old team-mate Gerry Summers in Graysford Hall. I made my debut at Sheffield United and he was an experienced first team player there. He guided me as a young 17-year-old in my early days as a professional.
"I shared a few words with him and gave him a big hug – it brought back so many memories from my start in the game.
"I'd like to wish everyone at Graysford Hall and those spending the festive season in all similarly excellent facilities across our region a very Merry Christmas."
