- Leicester City beat Sunderland 1-0 at King Power Stadium on Tuesday- James Justin's early header was the difference on Filbert Way- City are top of the Sky Bet Championship after winning 12 of 13 matches- Midfielder Cesare Casadei praised the team work on display in the game
The Foxes have often battled against low blocks at King Power Stadium this season, but the Black Cats were more expansive and aggressive on Filbert Way. James Justin's header, however, sealed a 12th win in 13 matches for City on Tuesday.
That win extends their lead at the top of the Sky Bet Championship to eight points and continues a record-breaking start to the new campaign. Casadei, speaking afterwards, was delighted with the battling qualities which Leicester showed.
"It was fantastic to play in," the Italian said. "We demonstrated that we can suffer a little bit in the game, so that was a big, big victory for us. It was a different game.
"They were very aggressive, but we showed that we can suffer and today there was a big effort from everyone, so we’re happy."
Casadei was voted as Player of the Match by the fans on X, formerly Twitter, and he was pleased to contribute to a memorable night. He also discussed how the team effort helped them over the line against Tony Mowbray's men.
"I always try to give my best but I think I can do even more," he added. "I can give more than that. I want to always improve in every game, that’s what I want.
"When we have to defend, we have to defend altogether. We did that. We worked hard in the middle of the pitch, in the midfield, or in every part of the pitch.
"It was a good effort from everyone and we are really happy because we demonstrated that we’re a strong team even when the opponent is aggressive."
