The Sky Bet League 2 outfit are currently bottom of Northern Group A with no points but City, who overcame Carlisle United last time out, are level on three points with the Cumbrians in third. Steve Beaglehole's side approach the clash at Globe Arena in fine form, winning six of their last seven fixtures in all competitions, and they will be optimistic of adding another success this time around. Here are five things you may not know about the two sides...
Last outing...
A late Sam Hughes winner secured an outstanding 2-1 victory for City's Development Squad at Liverpool in Premier League 2 last Sunday. Admiral Muskwe struck his sixth goal of the season on the stroke of half-time to cancel out Harry Wilson's opener before Hughes sealed all three points in added time at Prenton Park.
That victory propelled the Foxes up to third and extended their unbeaten run to seven matches in all competitions - six of which have been victories.
Shrimps in focus
Despite sitting in the bottom two of League 2, the Shrimps picked up a morale-boosting 3-0 success over Hartlepool United in the Emirates FA Cup First Round at the weekend.
Away from that result, however, Jim Bentley's men are now three league outings without a victory following two defeats, to Port Vale and Forest Green Rovers, and a 0-0 stalemate with Grimsby Town.
However, the Foxes will have to be wary of their hosts with a gulf in experience between the two sides likely to be a key hurdle for them to leap in Lancashire.
Beaglehole thrilled
The Under-23s manager has watched on in delight as his Foxes side continue to surprise many with a sequence of wonderful results in all competitions. "I have always said winning is important at this level," he said. "It gives you confidence to bring players on. If you're winning games then it proves that you have good players.
"It gives me great pleasure seeing a player come through and compete for places. I delight in seeing them develop, seeing them come through and make progress."
International Foxes
City could be without as many as five of their star performers for the visit to Morecambe.
Daniel Iversen (Denmark U20s), Darnell Johnson (England U20s - standby), Admiral Muskwe (Zimbabwe), Alex Pascanu (Romania U21s) and George Thomas (Wales U21s) have been given the call.
It didn't stop the Foxes from securing a 1-0 victory in Carlisle last time around, however, and the Club's Under-23s side still has plenty of quality among its ranks.
