  • Walkers RePlay, in partnership with UEFA Foundation for Children and Common Goal, have given UEFA Champions League Final tickets to Leicester City in the Community participants
  • The participants take part in adult sessions on the New Parks Cruyff Court
  • They were awarded for their participation and for giving back to their local community- Foxes legend Steve Walsh broke the news to the lucky few
Leicester City in the Community participants have been given a Champions League final experience courtesy of Walkers RePlay as a thanks for their committed participation and for helping others through volunteering.
Walkers RePlay, in partnership with UEFA Foundation for Children and Common Goal, fund Leicester City’s charitable arm to deliver initiatives for adults at the New Parks Cruyff Court.
Leicester City legend Steve Walsh surprised the group at the weekly Social Football session to tell them the good news.
Bertie Hurst, one recipient of the sought-after UEFA Champions League Final tickets, couldn’t believe she had been rewarded for volunteering with Team Hub CIC.
She said: “I did not expect that, I can’t wait! I feel as though I have come so far at these sessions - I was down, but now I’ve found all this. It has given me a bit of a lift up in life.”
The Cruyff Court – made in part from reused Walkers crisp packets – opened to the New Parks public two-and-a-half years ago, which has seen LCitC work closely with Team Hub to maximise support for the local community.
Matt Bray, Leicester City in the Community Senior Community Manager, reflected on what has been a big asset to the area.
“The pitch engages with over 300 people on a weekly basis,” he said. “The sessions make a massive difference to the local community. Volunteers who have contributed to this success have been rewarded by Walkers and PepsiCo. It will be a once in a lifetime experience for them.”
The 12 participants will now take in the likes of Jude Bellingham and Jadon Sancho at the home of English football. For further information on sessions for adults in New Parks, please contact Community Engagement Coach, Kyle Syrett, at kyle.syrett@lcfc.co.uk.
This also includes a weekend all-expenses paid for experience including hotel stay, opportunity to play at Somerset House, and attend fan zone events in London – all provided by Walkers RePlay.
