The Foxes will arrive in Leigh off the back of a 2-2 draw with Brighton & Hove Albion last weekend; Lena Petermann and Jutta Rantala scoring the goals. Ahead of the match, take a look at both camps and what happened last time out...
The Foxes camp
City arrive in fine form in the competition with five points from their first two games, which started with a win over Liverpool at Pirelli Stadium before beating Manchester City in a penalty shootout at Joie Stadium; Janina Leitzig saving three spot-kicks that evening. That afforded them a second point added to the one earned in normal time. In the Barclays Women's Super League, they haven't seen victory since their win over Everton in October but have collected points, against Tottenham Hotspur and, more recently, Brighton on Sunday at Broadfield Stadium as they currently sit eighth with nine points. Scoring goals doesn't appear to be an issue for Leicester at the moment, who have found the net in all but one of their games so far this season in all competitions, but Manager Willie Kirk will be hoping to keep the door shut at the other end if he wishes to take points off his former employers. The opposition
Man Utd have had a positive start to the domestic season, winning five of their first nine games in the WSL, losing only once to their local rivals Manchester City last month. Jill Roord, Lauren Hemp and Khadija Shaw scored the goals at Old Trafford.
They were knocked out of this season's UEFA Women's Champions League, after failing to beat Paris Saint-Germain on either occasion, hence their involvement in Group B of the League Cup, where they currently have six points from two games.
In the dugout
Marc Skinner has sat in the dugout for the Red Devils since his appointment in July 2021. With an impressive win percentage of over 60 per cent during his 72 games in charge, he is still looking for his first piece of silverware with the historic club, coming closest when they were runners-up to Chelsea in the 2022/23 Women's FA Cup.
He was also a runner-up in the FA Cup with Birmingham City in the 2016/17 season, but has claimed multiple individual awards, winning the WSL Manager of the Month award on five occasions, including both December awards in 2021 and 2022 respectively.
Last time out
Leicester have won twice in their previous seven meetings with Man Utd, both wins coming on the road. The first time arrived in 2021 when goals from Shannon O'Brien, Natasha Flint and Hannah Cain earned a place in the quarter-finals of the FA Cup, before beating them on penalties in the League Cup the following season. Sophie Howard and Flint got the goals. Although beaten on both occasions during the last campaign, City fought hard to earn a point earlier this term in the WSL. Goalless at the break, Aileen Whelan broke the deadlock before Maya Le Tissier's equaliser to settle the score. Ticketing & live coverage details
