Eddie began his professional career at Wolverhampton Wanderers in 1946 and was a member of their FA Cup Semi-Final side and Charity Shield side in 1949.
He was selected for the FA Tour of Canada in 1950 before moving to Middlesbrough in December 1951. Eddie arrived at Filbert Street in October 1953 and became an integral part of the Second Division title-winning side of 1953/54.
1957/58 was Eddie's final season at City, and he played an important part in consolidating the Club's position back in the top flight before moving to Notts County in August 1958.
After retiring in 1959, Eddie continued to live in Leicester for some 30 years. Initially a PE teacher at Guthlaxton School, he then led a successful career in business as a sales representative in the printing industry, before returning to teaching as an English teacher at Soar Valley College.
The Club's thoughts are with Eddie’s friends and family at this sad time.
