The versatile 34-year-old signed an initial one-year contract at King Power Stadium on Tuesday and joins the Foxes having spent her last four years with French giants Lyon.
Boasting an impressive CV, the Belgian’s trophy-laden career has now led her to Leicestershire, playing for an English side – and in the Barclays Women’s Super League - for the first time.
“It was a very warm welcome and I’m very happy to be here,” Cayman told the Club in an interview during her first look around Filbert Way after touching down in the UK. “It’s a new country to play football, but maybe one of the biggest countries to play in.
“England is England. The weather is not always the best but it’s perfect to play football. It’s impressive here, it’s amazing. To be able to play in a stadium like this is very nice. I can’t wait to be on the pitch and to play games in this jersey.
“To have facilities like this in the women’s game is quite unique. I’m happy that Leicester has this for us and excited to start working.
“I think the time was right to come here now, to believe in this project and to hopefully make a difference. It will be a big challenge but it’s very exciting to be in a new league, to meet new teams and to just give it my all.
“Some of my old team-mates from Lyon are now at Man City, so that will be cool seeing them and playing against them.”
Cayman’s list of honours include two UEFA Women’s Champions League titles, three Division 1 Féminine and two Coupe de France, as well as lifting the National Women's Soccer League in USA earlier in her career.
Able to play in a number of positions, her adaptability proved invaluable at previous clubs, a trait she is keen to continue.
“I think with Lyon I earned all the prizes,” she explained. “Winning the Champions League is always very special. Also winning the league. Winning is a very nice feeling so hopefully I can bring that here.
“I would say my preferred role is on the right side, and then as a forward, midfielder or defender. It doesn’t really matter, but I like playing down the line.”
It’s not just on the domestic stage that Cayman has impressed. Internationally, she is Belgium’s most capped women’s player, having made 137 senior appearances for her nation.
Now becoming the first LCFC Women player to hail from the Kingdom, she is eager to link up with the rest of the squad when pre-season begins at Belvoir Drive.
Cayman added: “It’s always an honour and a pleasure to play for Belgium and I hope I can carry on for a little bit longer.
“There’s been some Belgians here at Leicester but now it’s the women’s side getting one too, so it’s cool. I’ve heard only good stuff about Leicester so I’m happy to be here.
“It’s always nice to meet your new team-mates and I’m curious about how the group is. I’m happy to be part of this team.
“With my experience and my age, I think I can help younger players for sure and help with their development as well. That will be an important part of my role.
“I really care about people and that they feel good. If they feel good, then they can perform well, so I think that will also be an important part.”
