- Natasha Flint reflects on a 5-2 victory over Blackburn Rovers at Farley Way Stadium- The LCFC Women striker scored two goals before the interval in the FA Women's Continental League Cup- Goals from Charlie Devlin and Paige Bailey-Gayle, as well as a Kayleigh McDonald own goal, wrapped up the points- The 24-year-old says the Foxes can use the result to build confidence ahead of a key run-in
Flint netted two first-half goals against her former club before Charlie Devlin and Paige Bailey-Gayle restored City's two-goal lead after efforts from Rovers duo Elise Hughes and Charlotte Newsham.
That result, aided by a late own goal from Kayleigh McDonald, leaves the Foxes top of Group E and Flint was thrilled to secure a big victory so soon after Sunday's defeat at London City Lionesses.
"It feels good," City's No.20 told LCFC TV. "Obviously, the last game didn’t really go in our favour, but there’s nothing better than a good result at the end of the day.
"Whether it’s in the cup or the league, it’s good. It was a good performance, it could have been better still, but it’s nice to get back to winning ways again."
After scoring twice against Rovers on the opening day of the FA Women's Championship season, Flint was pleased to add another two strikes to her tally versus her former employers.
"I’m being honest, I really can’t remember them both!" she added. "But it’s always good to get a goal, some of the girls said the first goals good, but the second one’s even better.
"I’ll watch them back when I get home, but it’s always good to get on the scoresheet, of course! When I’m shooting, I just hit it and try and pick an area out.
"The power behind of the some of the shots, I just can’t really control, but it ended up in top bins!"
Flint now believes City have an opportunity to regain their momentum which, before last Sunday, saw them win two games in a row over Liverpool and Crystal Palace.
"The confidence is key for the whole team," she continued. "Whether I’m on the bench like I was last week or starting like tonight, it’s just a big boost for everyone.
"Sunday’s performance wasn’t the best, it was probably the worst we’re going to be, we hope. We don’t want to play like that ever again, so it’s a massive confidence boost.
"Winning does that, but to get some girls off the bench, it’s good for their confidence. The depth in the squad, it’s really good to be fair.
"We can rely on anyone in this team, the bench players, the starting players, or the players who have not played as much. The girls know when to perform, they do know when to turn up."
