- Leicester City drew 0-0 with Brighton & Hove Albion in the Premier League on Tuesday- Brendan Rodgers says the Foxes will not put themselves under pressure- The Northern Irishman praised Kasper Schmeichel for his penalty save from Neal Maupay
The Foxes drew 0-0 with Brighton & Hove Albion on Tuesday after making a return to King Power Stadium, with Kasper Schmeichel saving a penalty in the first half. City are unbeaten in their last four outings in all competitions and now sit nine points clear of fifth-placed Manchester United, who play Sheffield United at Old Trafford on Wednesday.
When asked about his side’s position in the league table, Rodgers said: “I've said to the players, I said at half-time: 'Listen, let's not worry about it. Everyone is talking about it’.
“We know what our end game is, but in order for us to get there, there's a process and the process is playing well, performing at the level that we can do that, and perform better, then that will get us the results that we want.
“So, yes, that's the plan. We cannot think about that, otherwise, you just pressurise yourself and I always think that that's the villain of success, really, pressure. But the players can cope with.
“But we have to focus on our performance level and if we can do that for the remaining games, then we can end up with a great season.”
Schmeichel’s spot-kick save promoted praise for Rodgers, who regards the Dane as one of the stars of City’s side this season.
“He's incredible,” Rodgers added. “One, he does his work, he studies penalty takers and looks at their trends, and two, he's just got a real anticipation in the goal and he's so fast.
“Like I say, his concentration, he didn't have a great deal to do, but he's an absolute star this season and ensured that we got at least a point.”
