As the last workout before the Barclays FA Women’s Super League begins next weekend, it provided another opportunity to finalise preparations at Belvoir Drive against a fellow top-flight opponent.
There were run-outs for a number of squad members, including newest signing Connie Scofield, as build-up to the Club’s first-ever WSL campaign reaches its climax. Spurs, managed by Rehanne Skinner, finished eighth in England's top division last season and will be looking to build on that in their third campaign at this level.
The Foxes are set to welcome the north London outfit to King Power Stadium on Sunday 3 October (2pm kick-off), before the reverse fixture takes place at The Hive Stadium on the final day of the season on Sunday 8 May (12:30pm kick-off).
Manager Jonathan Morgan spoke to LCFC.com post-match, discussing how the team is ready to take on what the WSL has to offer following a strong pre-season. He commented: “We played teams in the WSL, a couple in the league below and, while we’ve not been perfect in every game, it’s highlighted our issues, which is what we wanted, that’s what pre-season is for.
“And we’ve been able to focus on some of our strengths, but overall we’re delighted and we’re excited to start next week against Villa."
City’s season opener is away to Aston Villa Women on Saturday 4 September, with a 12:30pm kick-off scheduled at Banks’s Stadium.
