Brendan Rodgers’ Foxes visit AEK Athens’ Olympic Stadium for their second match in Group G following last week’s convincing 3-0 victory over Ukraine Premier League side Zorya Luhansk at Leicester City Stadium.
Strikes from England internationals James Maddison and Harvey Barnes, and a third from Kelechi Iheanacho, saw City equal their own record for their largest victory in Europe, setting them up nicely for Thursday’s trip to Greece’s historic capital.
City’s journey commenced on Wednesday with a three-and-a-half hour flight from the blue-skied East Midlands to the rainy Athens, where they arrived at around 4pm local time before heading to their base for the next 24 hours.
The squad travelled in a typically buoyant mood, and no wonder given they’d claimed a hard-earned win at Arsenal just three days prior for the first time in nearly half a century thanks to Jamie Vardy’s second-half header.
Indeed, that victory against the Gunners saw City set a new Club record of winning their first three fixtures on the road in the Premier League, and with a maiden Europa League away match next up, Rodgers’ side have good reason to be confident.
Their trip to Athens will be closely followed by media duties for manager Rodgers and Denmark international shot-stopper Kasper Schmeichel, before Leicester have the opportunity to train at the Athens Olympic Stadium this evening.
Comprehensive coverage of City’s press conference and first team training session at the home of AEK Athens can be found on LCFC.com and the Club’s social media channels in the hours that follow.
