-  Kamal Sowah helped OH Leuven progress in the Belgian Cup, while Daniel Iversen was an unused substitute-  Sam Hughes and Mitchell Clark made their debuts for Football League clubs Burton Albion and Port Vale-  Josh Eppiah was away on international duty for Belgium Under-21s
Due to this week's international break, forward George Hirst did not feature for Rotherham United, while Josh Eppiah, currently on loan at OH Leuven, was away with Belgium's Under-21s squad.
The Red Devils lost 1-0 to Moldova Under-21s in Tuesday evening's UEFA Euro Under-21s Qualifier, after beating Wales Under-21s 5-0 on Friday, with Eppiah an unused substitute in both games.
However, there was club football for Kamal Sowah during OH Leuven's 2-0 away victory over Royal Knokke FC in the Belgian Cup fifth round at Stadion Olivier on Sunday.
The winger started the cup clash before being replaced by Derrick Tshimanga 14 minutes from time.
Xavier Mercier and Frédéric Duplus were on the scoresheet for the away side, ensuring progression into the next round, while goalkeeper Daniel Iversen was an unused substitute as he returns from injury.
Elsewhere, City's Development Squad centre-back Sam Hughes made his Burton Albion debut, playing the full 90 minutes in Saturday's 2-0 defeat against Plymouth Argyle at Home Park.
Luke Jephcott opened the scoring for the home side before Byron Moore added a second just after the break.
It leaves the Brewers 23rd in the Sky Bet League 1 table, with three points from their opening five games.
Fellow Under-23s defender Mitchell Clark also made his bow for Port Vale, playing the full game as Carlisle United emerged with a 1-0 win at Vale Park, courtesy of Jon Mellish's 55th minute winner.
The young full-back returned for a third loan spell with the League 2 side, who are currently sitting in 12th position in the fourth tier, after two wins and a draw from their first five fixtures.
