- Manager Brendan Rodgers says Leicester City will regroup and prepare for Sunday’s Emirates FA Cup Semi-Final clash with Southampton- The Northern Irishman was speaking after the Foxes’ 3-2 reverse at West Ham United in the Premier League- Rodgers is excited at the prospect of facing Southampton at Wembley Stadium
A week after Leicester City’s 3-2 loss at London Stadium, the Foxes head to the capital once again, this time for a semi-final tie against Ralph Hasenhüttl’s Saints at the iconic Wembley Stadium.
Leicester saw Kelechi Iheanacho strike twice against West Ham, but were beaten by Jesse Lingard’s brace and an effort from Jarrod Bowen.
However, the Foxes have an exciting trip to London to look forward to, and that positivity will be harnessed in the build-up to the match as City attempt to reach the final of England’s most prestigious cup competition.
“It’s always disappointing,” Rodgers told LCFC TV after Sunday’s reverse to the Hammers. “When you don’t perform well, then of course we will be disappointed, but that’s my job.
“Twenty-four hours [after], you’re always hugely disappointed when you lose a game, and now we’ve got to get back and regroup. We’ve got a great semi-final next weekend.”
It will be City’s first FA Cup Semi-Final in nearly four decades, and Rodgers knows that Southampton will pose a considerable threat in all areas of the pitch.
When asked whether his outfit have a chance to bounce back against the Saints, Rodgers said: “The next game is always the opportunity to do that, so we can go into it next weekend.
“[It’s] a difficult game again, but we’re going to play a team that will be aggressive, so we’ll need to be able to match that first and foremost, and then our quality will come through.”
