- LCFC Women lost 2-1 to Liverpool on Sunday afternoon- Missy Goodwin netted a second half goal at Prenton Park- The young forward has scored three times during her LCFC career- She gave her reaction to Sunday's defeat following full-time
Last weekend saw the Foxes fall to their second defeat of the season, when a late Marie Höbinger goal saw off the Foxes’ advances, which started when Goodwin scored from a tight angle just before the hour mark. After the game, the winger shared her thoughts on the game, and admitted that Leicester weren’t at their best, but must regroup and learn from their mistakes in the future.
“We all know it wasn’t our greatest performance,” Goodwin explained. “But in this league, games come thick and fast, so we’ll review and move on. It’s disappointing to concede so close to half-time, but we managed to get ourselves back into the game so it's tough to concede again so late on.
“We know that today we weren’t good enough or at our usual level, but we’ll reflect on it and use it to our advantage throughout the rest of the season.”
One positive from the afternoon was the forward’s second half strike, her second Barclays Women’s Super League goal, with the first coming against Liverpool last season in a record 4-0 win.
“I’m happy to get on the scoresheet and help out the team,” she voiced. “But we came to get three points and we didn’t do that so it was shame we couldn’t. It came out to me, and after my first touch I wanted to hit it and luckily it went in.
“We won’t be too disheartened. We know what we can do in this league, and hopefully our fans have seen that, but it was disappointing not to reward them today.”
