The 29-year-old made the move to the Foxes following six years at Tottenham Hotspur, during which time the Lilywhites progressed from the third tier to becoming an established Barclays Women’s Super League side.

With two promotions under her belt and the honour of being named club captain at the North London outfit last term, Green carries an abundance of experience, including on the international stage with Wales.

The midfielder believes that know-how forms part of the reason why she will be a good fit for the Football Club, as they prepare to begin a second successive WSL campaign.

“It’s really exciting to meet the girls and join the team,” the former Watford youngster enthused to LCFC TV when sitting down inside Belvoir Drive for the first time. “It’s a really exciting club to be a part of. I’m looking forward to it.

“I was completely ready for a new challenge. I had a great time at Spurs, definitely learnt a lot, but excited for a new challenge to begin now with Leicester.

“I was at Spurs for a long time and there was a transition from them to go from the Championship to the WSL. And I was with them for the whole journey so having that experience is something that I can definitely bring over to the Club.

“Hopefully that’s something that I can use in the team going forward and ultimately help the team to do the best that they can.”

Green cannot wait to begin her journey with City, previously watching on from afar as the team turned professional and won promotion from the Barclays Women’s Championship in their first full-time campaign.

She also cited the impressive facilities available at Belvoir Drive as one of the many factors making it an attractive proposition to sign for the Club.

“It’s been amazing seeing that a club like Leicester have got promoted,” she continued. “Even just walking around today looking at all the facilities, it’s such a good thing for women’s football to have Leicester in the top league with everything that they can bring.

“Looking at the journey, it’s just an exciting for the Club and at the moment, for women’s football, it’s an exciting thing to be a part of as a whole. So, it’s where they deserve to be.

“The facilities are unreal. When I came here and spoke to Lydia [Bedford], she mentioned about the facilities, but until you actually get and have a look around, and look at all the pitches they have, the space, there’s not too many female teams at the moment who have the opportunity to train in such an exciting environment.

“That’s something that I’m going to be looking forward to, coming every day to train in such a nice place.”

But what can the Blue Army expect from their new signing on the pitch?

She explained: “Just to be myself, bring my experience that I have from my time at Spurs and help the team in the best way possible. It’s obviously early days but I think the expectations this year are high for the Club and hopefully that’s something that I can help the team with.

“Anyone that watches me, hopefully I bring some energy, I like to break up play, put a few tackles in and keep the ball moving. I think that’s something that I can bring to this Leicester side for sure.”
