- Honesty flags are to be introduced for home matchdays- The flags will be on display from Newcastle United game onwards- The Foxes' Premier League campaign restarts on Boxing Day
Starting on our Boxing Day clash with Newcastle, Leicester fans will now have over 2,000 flags at their disposal to wave, in support of the Foxes, at King Power Stadium.
One supporter, who will see his design flying high on Filbert Way, is Joe: “It’s going to be a cool moment! Myself and all my family are going to the Newcastle match, so it couldn’t be at a better game! My aunt lives on Tyneside so she’s coming down, and my dad has a Season Ticket, so he’ll be there too.”
A fox's head, covered with the names of past and present players of City, sit behind the slogan; Then, Now, Forever. The chosen design by Joe, he believes, is something that will be recognised by all Leicester supporters.
“I put three designs in, but I like the one that was chosen," he said. "It’s quite a well-known flag at Leicester, so that was the initial inspiration, and I thought the best way to display that was the use of players names.”
Another Foxes fanatic, who will see his creation on Boxing Day, is Matt: “I think I’ll be a little bit shocked when I see them in person!
“I’ve got a lot of affinity with Leicester, so it’ll be a proud moment for myself to see them being waved by fellow fans.”
A facial portrait of Nigerian striker, Kelechi Iheanacho is embroidered onto a City badge, with the Club’s name replaced with his well-known chant, ‘He’s magic you know, Kelechi Iheanacho!’
Matt, the creator of the flag, will be proud to see his design dotted around King Power Stadium, and used the humble centre-forward as his inspiration.
“It was a really nice surprise!” he told LCFC.com. “I’m a massive fan, and a big supporter of Iheanacho. I think he’s a humble man, who always puts a shift in.
“You never hear him moaning, he just comes in when needed. I think he’s got a good manner, is always positive and I wanted to show him a bit of love for his efforts.
“I value him. But I support the whole team, it doesn’t matter who’s playing – you’ve got to support the boys."
With the restart of the Premier League fast approaching, Matt hopes that any help that the flags can bring to the main goal of the afternoon, will be beneficial.
“Three points is all you want!" he continued. "If my flags create an atmosphere and plays a part in that, then I’ll be happy.”
