The Three Lions, who have several former Foxes in their squad, beat Denmark after extra-time on Wednesday, while Italy emerged victorious from a penalty shootout with Spain to secure their spot in the final.
This summer’s flagship tournament, meanwhile, has seen six Foxes feature for their nations, with one in particular starring in his country’s run to the semi-finals.

Defender Çağlar Söyüncü was the first City player to play in EURO 2020, as his side tackled eventual finalists Italy in Rome on Friday 11 June. However a 3-0 defeat at Stadio Olimpico, followed by a 2-0 loss to Danny Ward’s Wales and 3-1 reverse to Switzerland meant Turkey were unable to build on their impressive results in qualifying.

Goalkeeper Danny Ward undoubtedly impressed for Wales in all four of their fixtures, making a number of fine saves as they qualified from their group to set up a last-16 clash with Kasper Schmeichel’s Denmark. The Welsh drew with Switzerland, beat Turkey and lost to Italy before being knocked out by the Danes.

One of three Foxes in the Belgium camp, Youri Tielemans finished the 2020/21 season with a mammoth 66 appearances in all competitions for club and country. He was involved in all four of his nation’s fixtures at EURO 2020, as Roberto Martínez’s side won their three group matches before exiting the competition at the hands of Italy.

Despite impressing in Belgium’s friendly fixtures in the lead-up to the tournament, Timothy Castagne was forced off after 27 minutes in their 3-0 victory over Russia after suffering a fractured eye socket following a collision with Daley Kuzyaev. The unfortunate injury kept him out of the remainder of EURO 2020.

Midfielder Dennis Praet was the third Fox to take to the field for Belgium, as he came off the bench in their opening game against Russia, before another substitute appearance followed against Italy in the last-16. Praet ended the 2020/21 season with 31 appearances and three goals to his name across all formats for club and country.

Kasper Schmeichel was undoubtedly one of the stars of the tournament, as he pulled off save after save for Denmark in their run to the semi-finals of the competition they won in 1992. Although they were edged 2-1 after extra-time by England in the last-four, Schmeichel still delivered an outstanding performance, which included saving a penalty and a number of vital stops.
